Our New York Table is an independent documentary podcast exploring food, identity, and community through the people who gather around New York City's tables.

In each episode, we share the story of a different New Yorker through the lens of food. We're curious not only about the flavors and traditions that shape our city's cuisines, but also about the memories, relationships, and cultures they carry. Whether we're sitting down with a chef, cookbook author, restaurant owner, or home cook, every conversation asks the same question: How does food bring us together?

The podcast grew out of a simple idea: Could you eat at a restaurant from every country in the world without ever leaving New York City?

The answer is: probably.

Before I had the chance to begin that culinary adventure, the COVID-19 pandemic changed everything. Instead of eating my way around the city, I changed careers—from education to journalism—and discovered a different way to explore New York's incredible diversity: by listening to people's stories.

A few years later, I returned to that original question with a microphone in hand. What began as a quest to experience the city's cuisines has evolved into a documentary podcast about the people, traditions, and communities behind the food.

Because every meal tells a story—and every table has room for another seat.

Hi, I'm Diane! I'm an award-winning producer and journalist based in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to creating Our New York Table, I serve as Associate Director of Production at StoryCorps Studios, where I produce award-winning documentary and multimedia stories for national partners.

When I'm not recording interviews or searching for my next great meal, you'll usually find me cooking for friends, exploring New York City's neighborhoods, or planning my next outdoor adventure.
