Taqueria Ramirez
Mexican food with Giovanni Cervantes & Tania Apolinar, owners of Taqueria Ramirez in Greenpoint and Carnitas Ramirez in the East Village
“It was always tacos.” - Gio

“Going back to Mexico City, there is these quintessential tacos that you can find outside the subway stations or outside your school. And those are tacos al pastor, tacos de suadero, tacos de tripa, and tacos campechanos. So those tacos were the ones that I truly, truly miss. And that I realized wasn't a thing here that nobody was representing that menu.” — Gio

“We work in a different industry, but I will say, creatively, we still feel pretty engaged with being ideas driven and taking risks and changing the format of things. And at the end of the day, that's what I liked about art.” — Gio

“For me, [food] has always been about enjoyment, satisfaction...I don't just eat because I need to eat. I wanna have something that I really enjoy. Even if it's simple, doesn't matter. I wanna have a good, good meal.” — Tania
